Sustainable Dairy Farming around the world
When DeLaval launched the Sustainable Dairy Farming (SDF) initiative in 2008 it was based on increased awareness of environmental challenges. The aim is to reduce the environmental footprint of farms, while improving milk production, farm profitability and the well-being of the employees and animals. DeLaval believes this can be achieved by supporting customers with technology and services that can increase resource efficiency. Or, put another way, by helping farmers to do more with less.
According to Mark Blake, Manager CSR Reporting, DeLaval has laid the foundation for the integration of SDF into all company operations. “We are close to a point where Sustainable Dairy Farming is part of the way we think. Environmental impacts are being considered alongside social, animal welfare and financial ones in solution development. And since sustainability is about continuous improvement on all types of farms, we already have many solutions that can contribute positively,” says Mark Blake.
