DeLaval has successfully installed photovoltaic panels at our Dobre Miasto factory in Poland. This achievement not only marks our first step into harnessing solar power but also reinforces our steadfast dedication to sustainable business practices.

Responding to the growing urgency of environmental issues globally, we’ve proactively taken steps to reduce our carbon footprint. Since 2021, we’ve transitioned our Polish facilities to renewable energy sources by renegotiating electricity contracts. Now, with the integration of photovoltaic panels on top of the Dobre Miasto facility, we’re taking our sustainability efforts to new heights – literally!

Initiated in 2023, the project has swiftly progressed, with 296 photovoltaic modules already harnessing solar energy since late March 2024. The Dobre Miasto facility is poised to generate approximately 30% of its electricity demand, with peak production expected during the sunnier months from April through August (more than 10 megawatt hours per month).

This transition to solar energy not only reduces our carbon footprint, lowers operating costs, and enhances energy independence but also eliminates emissions entirely. In fact, our supplier estimates a reduction of nearly 78 tons of carbon dioxide (CO2) per year, equivalent to planting more than 3,580 trees!

DeLaval Poland has already taken several steps to reduce its environmental impact: from implementing the EnergJa project, which focuses on optimising local processes and eliminating wasted electricity and heat, to introducing electric vehicles and adopting LED technology. The installation of photovoltaic panels further reinforces this commitment.

Tadeusz Melnyczok, Managing Director, Poland, says: “This investment is a key moment in our efforts towards sustainability and the use of renewable energy. It is also a tribute to our employees and our factories in Poland and highlights the important role we play at DeLaval.”
